Kane Scrap Iron & Metal, Inc was founded in 1982 by Robert E. Kane Sr, Robert E. Kane Jr, and Patrick M. Kane, Sr.

Bob, Sr. worked in the scrap business after returning home from WWII. Bob, Jr and Pat joined him when it was time for them to go to work. In 1981 Bob, Sr. retired, but it didn't last long before he was doing dismantling jobs and scraping with his sons. It was only a matter of time before Kane Scrap was born and the business moved into a small building in the Cabotville Industrial Park in Chicopee.

After that Kane Scrap continued to grow and they bought a building and a little bit of land at 184 East Meadow St, then 165 East Meadow, and not too long ago, 199 East Meadow. While the business continues to grow in size, updated equipment make it easier to process, pack, and load materials in and out of Kane Scrap.

At one time or another all of Bob, Sr and Peg's grandchildren have work at the yard, truly making it a family business.
